PMS FAQs
Questions, answered plainly.
Everything you need to know about custody, fee calculation, taxation, minimum limits, and how our portfolio management service works.
What is the minimum investment for PMS? add
₹50 lakh, which is the regulatory minimum for any portfolio management service in India under SEBI regulations. You can bring cash, existing equity shares from your demat account, or a combination of both.
Do I own the shares? add
Yes. Unlike a mutual fund, where you own units of a collective pool, PMS shares sit directly in a dedicated demat account opened in your own name. Kotak Mahindra Bank serves as the custodian and fund accountant. You can see every holding and trade at any time.
What are the fees? add
A fixed fee of 2% a year, charged monthly on average daily assets under management, and a performance fee of 20% only on returns above a 10% annual hurdle, with a strict high-water mark. If you withdraw within the first year there is a 1.5% exit load. Statutory and operating expenses are capped at 0.1%.
How is my portfolio reported? add
You receive a comprehensive monthly statement itemizing every individual holding, transaction, cash dividend, and realized capital gain. We conduct quarterly reviews with our investment team and provide secure 24/7 web portal access.
How are PMS returns taxed? add
Because you hold direct beneficial ownership of the shares, capital gains tax is computed on every sale the fund manager executes, based on your holding period (short-term vs long-term). Dividends are taxed as per your personal income slab. We supply complete, audited tax-pack statements at the end of each financial year for your chartered accountant.
How long does onboarding take? add
Usually 7 to 10 working days once KYC documents and signed client agreements are submitted. Our dedicated Compliance Officer coordinates with Kotak Mahindra Bank for demat and bank account opening, keeping you updated at every step.
Can I exit whenever I want? add
Yes. Discretionary PMS with Dhanvesttor is fully open-ended. You may withdraw capital or terminate the mandate at any time. Withdrawals executed within the first 365 days carry a 1.5% exit load; after one year, there is zero exit load.
Will you tell me what you hold before I invest? add
We share our broad sector exposure, market-cap allocation, historical performance track record, and the complete FAITH framework prior to investment. Full stock-level holdings are disclosed exclusively to onboarding clients on their first monthly statement. This policy safeguards our active research thesis for existing investors.
